Oak Alley Planatation is often called “The Grande Dame of the Great River Road” and she surely is! The plantation is located in Vacherie, Louisiana on River Road and is one of our favorite places to visit. We had a wonderful time touring the grounds of this beautiful plantation. Her massive Oaks and well-manicured grounds are a sight to see in any season. Her restaurant and cafe/bar has food that is to brag about. Be sure and try a Mint Julep while you’re there, they are amazing!! Mine was a virgin Mint Julep because I don’t drink alcohol but still so good that I came home with 2 bottles of Mint Syrup for later. The Mint Syrup is made right there on the plantation due to Oak Alley still being a “working” sugarcane plantation.
It is a recommended place of interest to visit, for natives and visitors alike. While we only took the self-guided tour of the grounds on this visit, there is also a guided tour of the inside of the mansion for which words would do no justice, it is something you have to see for yourself. You can catch a sneak peek from our last tour here:
We want to thank Mr. Gary Dauphin, Director of Technology, Education, & Media Production, for helping us out with our visit once again!
Here are just a few of the photos we took on our visit. We hope you enjoy these photos of our tour and share them with your friends and family…
