Toups/Bernard Musical Brushes

Oh my geez y’all, you have got to come to Lafayette, Louisiana and visit the new Toups/Bernard Musical Brushes studio/gift shop/art gallery! Local music legend, Wayne Toups and local art legend Tony Bernard have combined their talents to open the new studio/gift shop/art gallery at 2823 Johnston St in South College Shopping Center, right next door to Lafayette Lanes bowling alley. I stopped in today for the first time with my family and I was blown away! A true “Louisiana” experience…

Tony sits right inside the door, painting off and on, as he visits with his customers and tells stories about his work. (He’s pretty funny) His beautiful wife, Roxie, was there to answer any questions we had and to just visit with us as we took in all the fabulous Louisiana-themed artwork and music. They made us feel so welcome that it felt like we were visiting with them in the living room of their home. A little background on each, Toups and Bernard, is below along with the images taken today. Enjoy the tour here but be sure to stop in for a visit to get the full experience for yourself, it was wonderful. I can’t wait to return when I have more time… ~Lovin’ Louisiana

You can add another nickname to the music man they call “Le Boss.” High-energy showman Wayne Toups has long been dubbed “The Cajun Springsteen,” but now you can add the title “Grammy winner” to his name. On Feb. 10, 2013, Wayne was honored with his first Grammy Award. His CD The Band Courtbouillon with Steve Riley and Wilson Savoy was announced as Best Regional Roots Music Album at the prestigious ceremony.
